Tea Plucking Stamps

Tea is one of the most popular beverages of the world. The origin of tea goes to China, where it was consumed as a medicinal drink .Later; drinking tea became popular in Britain during the 17th century. The British introduced tea production and hence, tea became a popular drink in majority of the countries.

In countries like India, Tea is commercial crop; grown and exported extensively. Hence, Tea plucking has given a special place by the posts of these countries. India, Japan, Shrilanka, China, Zambia and many such countries have depicted tea plucking on their postal issues.

India issued stamp in 1960 with the denomination of 15 paise depicting a woman plucking tea leaves. The Ceylonese issue dates back to the British rule. This set of two stamps with the value of 15 cents depicts woman plucking tea leaves along with the portrait of King George V. 2.5 Kwacha issue of Zambia is beautified with colours.

These stamps are solid proof that Tea is a beverage of the World.
